I received notice last year (11/8/18) from Troy City staff that the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) filed a lawsuit on behalf of the Adam Community Center against the City of Troy, the City of Troy Planning Commission, the City of Troy Zoning Board of Appeals; Daniel Agauas, Glen Clark, Thomas Desmond, David Eisenbacher, Orestis Kaltsounis, Padma Kupa, Dave Lambert, and James McCauley, individually and in their official capacities as Members of the Troy Zoning Board of Appeals. Thanks to the work of the Thomas More Law Center, I was dismissed from the lawsuit and my involvement in it as a defendant is over. Click here to read the Court’s Order dismissing me from the case.

2019-2020 Transit Developments for Southeast Oakland County

As the parent of a daughter who has a disability, I look forward to hearing about improvements in the transit options we have in our community. Looks like a couple of good announcements on that front. First, the Troy-Somerset Gazette for the week of October 28 featured an article on the new Troy R.Y.D.E. system.

The article by Cynthia Kmett states that through the 2020 budget process, "city council approved that the city staff would assume responsibility for the services provided by Troy Medi-Go Plus."

"Medi-Go Plus was a nonprofit organization offering Troy residents over the age of 60 and Troy residents with disabilities door-to-door transportation to medical appointments, the Troy Community Center, and other important destinations. The best news for those who need this helpful service is that they are now free, as the $2 donation has been eliminated. In addition, the manager, schedulers, and bus drivers are now city employees, according to Department of Public Works Director Kurt Bovensiep. The City of Troy has rebranded this service by changing the name to Troy R.Y.D.E., Reach Your Destination Easily."

The other good news comes from SMART, Southeast Michigan’s only regional public transportation provider. Click here to view the 11/5/19 C&G Newspapers article describing SMART's proposed new plan for service improvements.
