Congratulations are also in order for Birmingham Seaholm's Audrey Belf. She set a new course record for female runners!
Mary Ellyn and I were disappointed when our son Alex had to pull out of the race when he suffered some kind of a knee injury. Hopefully he'll be back in action soon because this is his Junior year at Athens High School.
For the second year in a row, I helped with meet timing and entering the official results in my laptop. Athens X-Country Head Coach Michael Stallsmith and Assistant Coach Shawn DuFresne have "threatened" to make this my permanent job. That's OK with me. With all of the changes going on at my place of employment, I may have to take up working at X-Country and Track meets as a full-time job.
The photo below appeared on the front page of the 8/24/13 sports section of The Oakland Press. Three Troy Athens runners are in the foreground.
Pictured below is a Troy Athens runner crossing a stream on the back part of the course. From personal experience, I can tell you that water is cold.
