Missed the Sesquicentennial of the Battle of Gettysburg

If I could start my career over, I would become a history teacher. So, on the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, where am I? Not in Gettysburg! A few years ago I wanted to be in Gettysburg on the last 3 days as that famous Civil War battle was remembered. Between finances, family plans, and job commitments, I just couldn't be there.

(Note: The image to the right is the 24th Michigan Volunteer Infantry Regiment monument at Gettysburg.)

Thanks to the internet, I was able to follow some 150th anniversary activities there over the past three days (YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook). Below are a couple of good videos that were prepared this year to commemorate this special anniversary.

My last visit to Gettysburg was ten years ago. Below are a couple of photos we took of our son Alex at Gettysburg during that trip.

Hopefully my health will be good enough 25 years from now so that I can travel to Gettysburg for the 175th commemoration. In the interim, I will support great organizations like the Civil War Trust.
