Troy Zoning Board of Appeals - September 2017 Meeting Recap

City staff has posted the video recording of the 9/19/17 Troy Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meeting to YouTube. At the bottom of this post is the video.

There were six items on the agenda and they are listed below.
  • 565 Ottawa. "In order to construct a detached garage, 1) a variance to allow a proposed ground floor area of the garage to be 3,106 square feet where the Zoning Ordinance allows a maximum of 2,888 square feet; and 2) a variance to allow the garage to be 18 feet ½ inch in height where the Zoning Ordinance allows a maximum of 14 feet in height."

    The ZBA approved an amended variance that reduced the garage height. I voted yes on the motion to approve the variance as amended.

  • 3821 Lawson. "A request for a variance to allow a proposed addition to the home to be set back 33.4 feet from the rear property line. The Zoning Ordinance requires a minimum 45 foot setback."

    The ZBA voted to approve the variance. I voted yes on the motion to approve the variance.

  • 383 Hickory. "Requests for variances to allow 1) the new residence to be 4 feet from the side property line where the Zoning Ordinance requires a minimum 5 foot setback; and 2) to allow the total of both side yard setbacks to be 13.15 feet where the Zoning Ordinance requires a minimum of 15 feet."

    The ZBA voted to postpone this item to our next meeting in October.

  • 3459 Talbot. "A request for a variance to allow a proposed garage addition to the residence to be set back 20.5 feet from the front property line. The Zoning Ordinance requires a minimum setback of 25 feet."

    The ZBA voted to approve the variance. I voted yes on the motion to approve the variance.

  • 2870 Marcus. "A variance to allow an addition to the home to be set back 30 feet from the rear property line, where the Zoning Ordinance requires a 35 foot setback from the rear property line."

    The ZBA voted to approve the variance. I voted yes on the motion to approve the variance.

  • 5600 New King. "A variance to allow additional parking areas in the front yard adjacent to New King, where the Zoning Ordinance prohibits additional parking areas in said front yard."

    The ZBA voted to approve the variance. I voted yes on the motion to approve the variance.
