Troy Zoning Board of Appeals - June 2017 Meeting Recap

City staff has posted the video recording of the 6/20/17 Troy Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meeting to YouTube. At the bottom of this post is the video.

There were five items on the agenda and they are listed below.
  • A variance for 71 Birchwood (to create two parcels). The ZBA voted to postpone action on this item to our next meeting.

  • A variance for 979 Badder (to allow a building addition). The ZBA voted to approve the variance. I voted yes on the motion to approve the variance.

  • A variance for 3023 Oakhill (to allow an at-grade generator in the front yard) The ZBA voted to approve the variance. I voted yes on the motion to approve the variance.

  • A variance for 3320 Ellenboro (to allow construction of a detached garage) The ZBA voted to deny the variance. I voted yes on the motion to deny the variance.

  • A variance for 6772 Westaway (to allow a detached garage to be enlarged) The ZBA voted to approve the variance (as amended*). I voted yes on the motion to approve the amended* variance.
Finally, we were notified at the meeting that Allen Kneale resigned his seat on the ZBA. Allen served several years on the ZBA including time as both Vice Chairman and Chairman. Thank you for your service Allen!

Troy Zoning Board of Appeals - May 2017 Meeting Recap

City staff has posted the video recording of the 5/16/17 Troy Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meeting to YouTube. At the bottom of this post is the video. (The meeting actually starts shortly before the one minute mark of the video.)

There were two items on the agenda:
  • A variance for 3755 Euclid (to construct an addition to the house). The ZBA voted to approve the variance. I voted yes on the motion to approve the variance.

  • A variance for 71 Birchwood (to create two parcels). The ZBA voted to postpone action on this item to our next meeting.
We also had an excellent presentation by Troy City Attorney Lori Bluhm and Assistant City Attorney Allan Motzny on the laws that apply to ZBAs in Michigan.

Finally, congratulations to Glenn Clark and David Eisenbacher who were re-elected as ZBA Chair and ZBA Vice Chair respectively.
