Move Across Troy October 2014 Followup

On Tuesday, September 30th and Wednesday, October 1st the City of Troy kicked off Move Across Troy by hosting the Big Beaver Pedestrian Symposium. This two day event was a "focused effort to discuss pedestrian mobility barriers that exist on Big Beaver, between Adams and Dequindre Road, and explore future solutions."

I attended the late afternoon session on October 1st. At the bottom of this blog post I've embedded a few photos I took at that session.

In addition, City Economic & Community Development Director Mark Miller sent me (thank you Mark!) an electronic copy of the graphic "panels" that were posted at each of the stations during the symposium. Click here to view/print these panels.

Bob LaBrant's PAC Man

Congratulations to Bob LaBrant, my former boss at the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. He's written his memoirs, “PAC Man: A Memoir – a Personal Political History of the Campaign Finance, Redistricting, Ballot Question, Recall and Judicial Election Battles in Michigan 1977-2014.” The book is available on Amazon. I'm looking forward to purchasing and reading the book not only because Bob helped me land my very first job after college at the Michigan Chamber but also to relive some of the great times I had as an employee of that organization.

September 2014 Joint Troy City Council and School Board Meeting

On September 29, 2014, the Troy School Board and Troy City Council held a joint meeting to discuss some of the issues facing the City and the School District.

The last such joint meeting was held on May 28, 2013. After that 2013 joint meeting, I complained that the Troy School District and the City of Troy failed to tape the meeting for later public viewing.
