Hoping Vladimir Putin Will See an Athens TV Video

What does Russian President Vladimir Putin and Troy Athens TV have in common? Well, our son is enrolled in the Writing for Broadcasting class at Troy Athens. The students in the class film and produce videos that are sometimes uploaded to the Athens TV Class YouTube channel. Click here to view their uploads.

OK, now that I've given you some background information on our son's class, you're still wondering what Athens TV has to do with Mr. Putin? Because our son was adopted from Russia when he was a baby, we discovered a website which is encouraging American families to share their Russian adoption stories. Hopefully these stories can help the Russian people adopt a new attitude about international adoption.

According to the Let's Adopt website...
On December 28, 2012, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law a ban on American adoptions of Russian children. For the approximately 1,000 Russian children who were in the process of being adopted when the ban took effect, and the hundreds of thousands of potential Russian adoptees currently stuck in institutions, the political concerns behind the ban are irrelevant. Whatever the international policy disagreements, we should all be able to agree that the welfare of these children should be our primary focus.
We're hoping that our son will consider using the great resources of the Athens TV class to produce his own video that shares his and our adoption story. Here's a great example below. By all means, check it out.
